The Neighborhoods@Work Initiative is a 5-year concerted effort by the Los Angeles Urban League to address issues related to Education, Employment, Health, Housing, and Safety in the 70-block area of Park Mesa Heights. Our ultimate goal is to create a Best Practices model for sustainable neighborhood change that can be replicated throughout urban communities across the country

The issues faced in this and urban neighborhoods across the country cannot be addressed in a vacuum. They are interrelated, and therefore must be dealt with concurrently. To address these issues, we have solidified partnerships with local schools, community stakeholders, and governmental entities that address each discipline of focus. Institutions such as Crenshaw High School, USC, LAPD, CHP and the State of California have demonstrated their support by lending personnel and/or volunteers to this effort. Additionally, Neighborhood Councils, block clubs, business owners and the clergy have shown their support by attending and participating in the Initiative’s events and activities.
