Milken Family Literacy and Youth Training Center

As part of Neighborhoods@Work, the Milken Family Literacy and Youth Training Center provides a comprehensive system of services of programs and services to assist youth and adults in developing the skills to compete for and obtain meaning employment, as well as educational attainment.

Services

  • Youth and Adult Literacy Program: The Literacy Program, funded primarily by the Milken Foundation, serves youth and adults by providing basic skills training and tutoring in math and reading. Target also funds the Literacy program to develop reading circles and clubs. Through our "Reading Is Fundamental" and "Read and Rise" programs, books are distributed quarterly to participants and programs are developed promoting reading and literacy.
  • Youth and Adult Training and Job Search Assistance: The Youth Opportunity Program is funded by the City of Los Angeles, Community Development Department, and designed to deliver academic, employment preparation, and professional development services leading to skills attainment, high school completion, college/vocational school attendance, apprenticeships, and job placement.
  • Youth Engagement - enhances youth leadership skills / abilities, awakens the advocates within and reinforcing the imporance of academic / professional progression and success.
