“American Promise” – How to make the promise real for your child?
Opportunity is just the first step. Ensuring that our young people are equipped with the same opportunities for excellence requires solutions. While current focus on closing the achievement gap is necessary, it is only one part of the solution. Parents, school and community stakeholders are another critical piece.
The Los Angeles Urban League is partnering with the Friends of Angeles Mesa Library to host a “Parent Engagement Forum”. The forum will showcase highlights of the award winning documentary film ‘American Promise’ by Joe Brewster and Michelle Stephenson. The highlights will be followed by a thought provoking panel discussion on authentic parent engagement in today’s academic climate.
