Los Angeles Urban League and Jim Hill Tee Up To Support Neighborhood Change

Jim Hill Celebrity Golf Classic

The 2009 Los Angeles Urban League/Jim Hill Celebrity Golf Classic will be held on Friday, October 23 at the Pacific Palms Resort and once again will feature sports legends as well as film, television and music celebrities as players to play with individual and corporate teams. As he has done for 12 years, renowned sportscaster Jim Hill is hosting the day of fun and golf to benefit the Los Angeles Urban League and the more than 100,000 citizens that the League provides assistance to each year. The League is calling all golfers to join corporate, business and community leaders who want to help urban minorities to continue to fight for equal opportunity and economic self reliance! The day begins with a 9:00 am tee time “shotgun” start and includes lunch and the award banquet. Golfers should come prepared to bid on exciting auction items and raffle prizes.

The list of celebrities who have committed is growing and so far includes: boxing Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya; basketball greats James Worthy, Norm Nixon and Elgin Baylor; football Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson and Marcus Allen; baseball legends Frank Robinson, Lou Johnson and Rudy Law; television producer Ralph Farquhar, entertainment stars Beverly Johnson, Pat Boone, Dawnn Lewis, Kiki Sheppard and Howard Hewitt and many others. A highlight for 2009 will be Comedy on the Green hosted by Dannon Green, Joe Torry and Buddy Lewis, well-know comedians and television stars who also golf and will bring their jokes and wit to add to the enjoyment on the golf course.
