The Los Angeles Urban League announced today that The Ahmanson Foundation's Board of Trustees approved a grant in the amount of $500,000 to support the League's Neighborhoods@Work initiative. Neighborhoods@Work, the catalyst of the League’s five-year strategic plan, is a systemic change model designed to revitalize the 70-block area surrounding Crenshaw High School. The area, known as Park Mesa Heights, has a population of 10,000 residents. "We deeply appreciate the support of the Ahmanson Foundation to Neighborhoods@Work and the unwavering commitment to the communities that will be the beneficiaries both in the short and long term,” stated Blair Taylor, President & CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League. “Our long term ability to transform these communities will necessarily depend upon the cooperation of partners like the Ahmanson Foundation. The Ahmanson Foundation believes, as we do, that we must work collaboratively to transform these communities one neighborhood at a time, and that we must do so right now. It is simply an imperative.”
