Block Captains of Park Mesa Heights support N@W
On February 9th 2009 block club Captains of the Park Mesa Heights area (PMH) united with the Neighborhoods @ Work (N@W) Deputy Officers in the Milken Center to touch base on how to best work together. The N@W initiatives goals are aimed towards heightening the quality of life among five essential entities : Safety, Housing, Health, Education and Employment. The targeted area spans among the 70 block radios ranging from Vernon and Slauson as well as Hill Crest and Van Ness. During this gathering, block club captains educated the N@W team on their independent histories as active members of their communities. Some members have been involved in their neighborhood change for over 30 years and others over 50 year. Having such dedication in advocating for preserving a good community, these block club captains are engaging on a 21st century approach to issues that span generations.
The Neighborhood Deputies Officers (DNO) of N@W optimistically expressed the many opportunities in services that currently exist within and among the Urban League organization. The intention of bring the awareness to the PMH block club captains is to ensure that the communication between the Los Angeles Urban League and any organized group of community advocates are clear, concise and uniformly embraced. Bringing together the two forces of community advocates and organized leadership, the relationships are bond to ensure rapid and effective neighborhood change.
