Peer Support Workers Podcast by Jarrod
During the summer of 2008, several young participants at the Los Angeles Urban League's Milken Youth Center participated in a Podcast Bootcamp. The participants were tasked with making podcasts and videos about the Youth Center under the instruction of Daphne Bradford. In this podcast, Jarrod Jones talks describes being a Peer Support Worker at the center.
The key to becoming a Peer Support Worker (also called PSW) is to promote LIFE, FREEDOM, and FUTURE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY at the Milken Center and in your community. The Peer Support Workers has a voice in the decisions made around the Milken Center. For the past couple of weeks the PSW’s teamed up with the summer interns at the Milken Center to make it more youth suitable for all. As a veteran of the Urban League and peer support program I believe with more youth involved, together we will change the center and environment for other youth.
