Information Technology Internship Podcast by Brenden
During the summer of 2008, several young participants at the Los Angeles Urban League's Milken Youth Center participated in a Podcast Bootcamp. The participants were tasked with making podcasts and videos about the Youth Center under the instruction of Daphne Bradford. In this podcast, Brenden describes his IT internship at the center.
The Los Angeles Urban league Milken Youth Center Information Technology internship is a program where you don’t have to know everything when you first start the job. This internship requires patience and fast comprehension skills. The internship does have good benefits. The job pays eight dollars an hour, that might not sound like anything to you but the knowledge and the responsibility is priceless. This internship program also has a work readiness program that teaches how to get a job and keep a job. This is a one day a week program that teaches on the job responsibility. The work readiness program helps me to understand the pressures that will occur in the real world. We do role playing to come up with common pressures on the job. All the skills I have learned on this job have prepared me for the meaningful goals of employment and education.
