The Los Angeles Urban League Executive Corps is the newest auxiliary group of the Los Angeles Urban League and consists of 25 African Americans who work with the CEO and the Board of Directors. This group ranges in age from 35 to 65 and are successful business and community leaders. The Corps will initially focus on four major areas of concern: global economy, leadership, strategic planning and media. Additionally the Corps will address major issues in the community such as education, community safety and economic development. This core group of 25 has the responsibility to outreach to their own network of 20 with the goal of bringing a total of 500 individuals into the Executive Corps.
This network would be activated to support the four initiatives. The Executive Corps will be part of the Urban League “army” as it advances an ambitious agenda and a plan for community transformation that is systematic, scalable and measurable. This is the first group of its kind in the non-profit, private and corporate sectors that will foster a strategic plan linking the organization to many populations of people and creating a community’s need for a defined agenda.
